March Favourites

Another month this year is over! I can't believe how quickly it's going, and it doesn't feel like I've had my blog for three months already! Not much has happened this month but I'll give you the lowdown. So, my mum's boyfriend went to India for 2 weeks with work, I got to go to Stamford Bridge (the home of Chelsea Football Club) with my dad to see Southampton play and the rest of it I was at school! Such fun!

First love this month is the Nars Sheer Glow, I got this for my birthday from my mum after wanting it for so long, I was so excited to finally be able to use it on my birthday! I have to say it's just as good as everyone says it is! The shade I got was Gobi and it is the perfect colour for me, the finish is just what I hoped for and it's dewy but not too dewy that it looks shiny. The only thing is it doesn't come with a pump which is the most annoying thing because you then have to buy a pump and it's just so much hassle!

Another Nars product I have been loving is the Nars Audacious Lipstick in Barbara, this colour is the perfect brownish-nude for me and I love it. Honestly I spent hours and hours watching youtube videos and reading blog posts and looking at swatches to see which colour I thought would suit me best and I decided on Barbara and I don't think there's a better nude colour for me. It's so long lasting but it's kind of drying when you've had it on for a while which is annoying but it's nothing I can't handle!

I bought this just after my birthday with some birthday money and I thought I'd give it a go because I needed a new brow product and everyone loves this! It's the Benefit Gimme Brow, I got the light/medium since I have blonde hair and I love it, before I didn't use any sort of brow gel and I just used powder and pencil to fill them in but when I use this it gives my brows such a lift and it shapes them really nicely. I have been using this everyday since I got it but I might buy the Rimmel one or the Maybelline one for everyday use so I don't have to wear this one to school everyday!

This is one of two not very expensive products in this favourites but I've really been loving the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Kiss Me Coral, it's such a nice coral colour and since it's the beginning of spring I thought it would be nice to start getting into the bright spring/summer colours and I have been feeling very summery the last couple weeks because the skies are blue and the sun is out, all we need now is the temperature to get higher and it will be perfect!

The next favourite is a Yankee Candle in Bermuda Beach, I love this because it reminds me of last summer when I went to the beach with my friends and the holiday I went on. As you can probably tell this month I am a little bit excited for summer to come and the weather to get warmer. I am in need of a so warm weather so I can sunbathe and get a tan!

This is such an old school favourite, the Mac Soft and Gentle highlighter is loved by everyone! I stopped using this a few months ago because I liked one of the Benefit ones but that was only a tester sized so when I ran out of that I started using this again and I had forgotten how much I loved this. I think I had used this for about 8 months straight so having now used this for a month again I am surprised that it still hasn't really made a dent. It looks like I've not used it which is incredible!

The last favourite is the Carmex lipbalm in the Strawberry Flavour, I have been using this every day this month because my lips have been quite dry but this has helped them so much! I love the tingly feeling you get when you put this on and it smells so good, a mixture of minty with strawberry, I love it! I think I'll have to buy a new one sometime next month because of the amount I've been using it!

Top 5 | Drugstore Lipsticks

Today I thought I'd do another post in my 'Top 5' series, and it's going to be my top 5 favourite drugstore lipsticks. I really love all these lipsticks and I'll tell you why more in depth when I talk about them individually. I'll also include my favourite shades and swatches of them so you know what colour they are and what they look like.

L'Oreal Paris Color Riche exclusive Reds / Nudes
I think I can honestly say that these lipsticks are my all-time favourite drugstore lipsticks, I love the consistency, the colours, the packaging, everything about these lipsticks I love. They last so long on my lips, especially the red ones, and you literally only have to touch up a couple of times a day if you're out and about. My favourite shade from the Red collection is Blake's Red, I've actually done a blog post specifically on this lipstick which you can find here. I love the colour I think it's the perfect red for me. My favourite shade from the Nude collection is Julianne's Nude, I don't know why I love this one out of all of them but it's the one I've been reaching for most.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
I really like this lipstick because it goes on so smooth and does not dry your lips out at all, in fact it feels quite moisturising. The only thing about this lipstick is that it's not very long-lasting and you have to reapply it multiple times throughout the day. My favourite shade is Kiss Me Coral and it's a really beautiful orange shade which I can't wait to wear in the spring time. I only have a few of these but I am in need of some different colours because they are amazing!

Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick / Matte Lipstick
These lipsticks are very highly pigmented and one swipe over the lips is enough, although I usually do more because that's what I like to do. I also think these lipsticks smell really nice, it's not fragrance-y but it's subtle and lovely. They don't dry your lips, they're very comfortable to wear and feel very silky. My favourite shades are the 107 because well, it's a beautiful wine red colour and it's amazing for autumn/winter, although I will wear it all year round because I love it. Another favourite of mine is the 08, it's a muted rosy-brown and it looks so nice on, it sort of makes my lips look bigger which I am kind of liking right now.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick
I love the creaminess of the formula and it does not dry my lips out at all, especially in the winter months. Tantilizing Taupe is my favourite go-to lipstick shades, it's a gorgeous nude with pink tones running through it. On me it lasts about 2-3 hours so it's definitely not long lasting and you have to reapply it throughout the day but that's not a bad thing because you get that with so many lipsticks nowadays that it's not a surprise when you look in a mirror and see that your lipstick has rubbed off!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick
This lipstick is a nice and soft creamy lipstick, it's not as creamy as some but I like using it as it kind of acts like a lip balm but adds a bit of colour also. Choosing my favourite shade of this was so hard but at the moment it's Rose Tweed which is a pink that is quite subtle and not too bright. The staying power could be better but it does not settle into any cracks on dry lips. I'm not sure about the packaging because it looks sort of cheap but a lot of people loved this lipstick so I just bought it and I'm glad I did because it is amazing.

Netflix Tag

A couple of weeks ago the lovely Ami from perksofbeingami tagged me to do the Netflix tag, you can find her post here. I'll be honest I have seen quite a few people do this and I was hoping that someone would tag me so I can do it because I am obsessed with Netflix right now, I can't stop watching it!

What are your favourite series to watch on Netflix?
I think everyone who's seen it has said Pretty Little Liars is their favourite to watch, and that's the same with me although the first time I watched it on Netflix I had already seen it! I started watching it at the beginning of last year but I've re-watched it about 3 times since then because I love it so much! Another series I have really enjoyed was Gossip Girl and also American Horror Story.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?
I am watching 90210 at the moment and I'm halfway through the third series I think, next in my list though is Orange Is The New Black which I am excited to start because it looks really good and everybody who has seen it always have good things to say about it.

If you could have any series, old or new put in Netflix, what would it be?
It has to be friends hasn't it?! I don't think I know anyone who hasn't at least seen one episode of Friends, it's such a good show and it's probably a good thing it's not on Netflix because I would not stop watching it!

What is your one peeve about Netflix?
It's the fact that the films aren't very up-to-date, they never have new releases which is annoying, although I do like it that on some series for example Pretty Little Liars they update it every Wednesday so you don't have to wait ages for a new episode or for the whole series to be put on a year after its been released.

What are your essentials for a perfect night in with Netflix?
Blankets, Popcorn and maybe a Mcflurry from Mcdonalds (I would have a hot chocolate but I don't actually like hot drinks which is so annoying because hot chocolates look so nice).

Recommend one series or film for someone else.
100% would recommend Pretty Little Liars, I've re-watched it at least 3 times in just over a year and every person I've told about has gone and watched it and has ended up loving it just as much as I do! I'm not even kidding here but even my mum started watching it, haha!

I'm not sure who's done this tag already but if you're obsessed with Netflix just like me then I tag you to do this tag!

Nars Audacious Lipstick | Review

I only have one of these lipsticks but you don't need a whole collection to be able to know if a lipstick is good or not. I got this lipstick from my mum as a well done present for doing well in my mock exams for school, and I watched so many youtube videos of lip swatches trying to decide what colour I wanted and I finally made up my mind and went for Barbara.

This is such a pretty nude colour, and it is described as a 'tan rose.' On me it's a beige colour with a touch of pink. The pigmentation of this is incredible, one swipe over the lips would be enough and it covered the whole of my lips. It applies smoothly and doesn't sink into any cracks or anything which I love because my lips get dry and cracked so easily! The colour lasts for a long time too since it's a matte finish but it can make your lips feel quite dry after a few hours which is annoying because a lot of people have said that it isn't drying at all and I think for the price I would've liked it to be a little more hydrating. Other than that though I do really love this product and I will be buying more in the future because I love a lot of other colours. The only thing that's stopping me buying more is the price, I mean I could probably get five lipsticks from the drugstore for the same price as one Nars lipstick but I'll have to treat myself one day!

One thing I haven't mentioned is the packaging, I have one other Nars lipstick which is in the original packaging and I have to say I love this packaging a lot more. It feels a lot more luxurious and it doesn't look as cheap which is really nice. I also love how satisfying the click is when you put the lid on, I can't get enough!

Love Tanya | Review

Todays blog post is a little bit different, it's a book review. As you probably know a lot of youtubers have been bringing out their own books, for example Alfie, Zoe, Fleur and a few Americans. I have been watching Tanya for god knows how long so I was so excited to get to get and read her book. I know this review is a little late since the book has been out a couple of months already but I'm writing this in February okay, I have exams this year so I have to pre-write some posts!

Honestly, this book is amazing! You can definitely tell how much work has gone into writing and putting this book together. Its inspiring and written with love and passion. It reflects what Tanya is about and I love how personal it is, especially the chapters on 'Growing Up'. She touches on pretty much everything in this book, from Baking to Makeup to Confidence. I can honestly say that I was that I was not disappointed by this book and out of all the youtubers books this one is by far my favourite!

I really love the fact that she's tried to make it interactive by giving us space to write notes on certain things, for example one of the notes pages says to 'List the top ten makeup looks you are inspired by at the moment' which is so nice because you can look back and see what you liked at that certain time and you can see if you still like that if you look at it in the future. I haven't actually written anything in there yet though, I'm too scared I don't want to ruin the book haha! Another thing I really love is that she lists her 'Top 10' on her favourite skincare or her nostalgic childhood memories etc.

I really enjoyed this book, the layout and photo's are stunning and I think my favourite sections were the autobiographical ones. The ones about 'Growing Up', 'Love' and 'Confidence and Happiness' were probably the ones I most enjoyed out of them all. Every section was so well written and I can't find a fault for this book. I am so proud of how far Tanya has come and I definitely recommend this book to anyone who has any interest in beauty, skincare or lifestyle.

Nars Sheer Glow | Review

I am aware that nearly everyone in the blogging community has or has tried this foundation, but I've never tried it before and I thought I'd do a review on it because everyone has different opinions and maybe there is a few people out there that haven't tried this and want to read a review about it before buying it.

I got this foundation for my birthday so I had to go and get colour matched by a professional, I got given a small sample which I used to try it out before we ordered the foundation online because they didn't have my exact shade in stock at the place I went to. I really love the formula of this foundation, it leaves such a nice glowy finish to the skin instead of it being greasy looking like some dewy finish foundations. It feels very hydrating on my skin and does not cling to any dry patches which is great. A lot of people have said this foundation breaks you out but thankfully it has not broken me out and my skin feels nearly exactly the same as it did before I started using it.

I really love the coverage because it's medium coverage which is what I like to wear. It covers any redness or blemishes I have without me having to cover up with concealer. It can definitely be built up to full coverage but I don't tend to do that because it feels too heavy and thick on my skin. It blends so nicely and and I love how it feels so light on my skin. Nars say that if you use your fingers to apply this it will give you the most perfect finish but I hate applying foundation with my fingers so I have not tried that yet. I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush which to me looks great so I don't need to use my fingers!

I never apply my foundation without primer anyway but I have to say that this is one of he longest lasting foundation I have ever tried. It stays on all day and still looks perfect at the end of the day. The only thing I hate about this foundation is that it doesn't come with a pump so you have to spend an extra £4 to get one and it just makes the foundation seem so expensive! I think that if a foundation retails at £31.00 then it should at least come with an option of a free pump if you want it.

I can't deny that this foundation is amazing and I've used it everyday since I've had it. I am scared though because I don't want to run out of it anytime soon because I'm not sure if I'd spend that much on a foundation however good it is. Especially not now because I don't have a job.

Empties | #1

In the last couple of months I have been collecting quite a few empty products that I've used up. I've found that in the last couple of months I've been using up lots of different make-up products and a few other bits so I thought it would be perfect to do an empties post and let you know which products I liked and which products I didn't like too much and wouldn't buy again! Just to warn you now, I didn't realise I had so many Rimmel products that I'd used up, I think that must have been my favourite make-up brand for a while!

Garnier Micellar Water: I have been using this for a while now and I still prefer it to make-up wipes, I will continue to buy it unless I decide I want to try out Bioderma which is apparently better than the Garnier Micellar Water, until then though I will continue to use this.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation: I really, really like this foundation, I think the Rimmel foundations are some of the best in the drugstore. I have already re-purchased a new one of these and I wear it to school everyday.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara in Extreme Black: At the time of when I used this I thought it was the best mascara ever, but I cannot buy a new one because since switching up my mascaras I've decided the brush is way too big and I don't like it!

Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara: I think this mascara is nice, but I don't think I'd re-purchase it because there are a lot more mascara's out there that are a lot nicer than this one.

Topshop Brighten Pen: I really liked this and it was very brightening under my eyes but it did not last me a very long time at all which was disappointing so I'd re-purchase it again but not straight away.

Topshop Liquid Liner in Black Cab: This eyeliner is probably one of my favourites ever, I mentioned it in my January Favourites and I will continue to re-purchase this until I find something better.

Topshop Magic Liner: I didn't like this at all, it didn't apply very well and it came out a bit watery and not very nice, I don't like the applicator tip at all either so I definitely won'y be re-purchasing this again.

Mac Studio Fix Foundation: This is one of my all-time favourite foundations and I love it and I will be re-purchasing this until the day I die!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer: This is one of the best concealer's I've ever tried, I love using it under my eyes and I will always re-purchase this.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation: Again, another Rimmel Wake Me Up product, I love it and will definitely re-purchase this.

Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil: I really liked this eyebrow pencil but there are better ones out there and I'm not in a hurry to re-purchase this although it is good.

Miss Sporty So Clear Pressed Powder: This powder was so cheap and you could tell, nowhere near as good as the Rimmel Stay Matte which is the best drugstore powder that I've found. Won't re-purchase this again.

March Wishlist

This is my March Wishlist and I've been loving looking for new furniture that I'd buy if I had my own flat and honestly I've fallen in love with the dressing table that is on my wishlist this month!

First is this dressing table, I can just imagine myself having this in my bedroom when I have my own flat in the future, I love the massive mirror and the vintage/retro feel of this. I wish I had enough room for it right now, because I love it. It's a G Plan Fresco Teak Dressing Table and they're so rare, I'm just hoping that when I move out in a couple of years that there will still be one around because I need it in my life!

The next is the YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks, I can't justify paying £25 for a lipstick right now, but I think I might have to treat myself one day because these are gorgeous! I love nearly every single shade and the packaging is to die for! Love, love, love the look of these!

The next thing is a Roberts Radio, specifically in the green pastel colour, I think it's gorgeous and again, I love the vintage/retro feel for this. I think this would look so lovely on the dressing table I mentioned earlier and I also love the idea of having a radio because as technology had changed people just listen to music on their phones, or laptops and I just think you can't beat an old-fashioned radio.

I think I mentioned this in a previous wishlist but I am still loving the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette, everyone who mentions it in a blog post or on a youtube video I get insanely jealous because they are so beautiful!

February Favourites

It's come to the end of February and it's time to tell you what I have been loving this month and why. This month was really good, mainly because it was my birthday and I got to see all my friends and family which was lovely! I turned 16 but I didn't have a huge party with loads of people because honestly I don't like that sort of thing, I just had a few friends round my house for a sleepover and we went out shopping and had dinner out the next day.

The first thing I have been loving is the Benefit Rollerlash, you've all probably heard about this because everyone has been raving about it and I'd say it's definitely worth the hype, I love how it lengthens and curls my lashes without having to use an eyelash curler! It's so good, I've already bought the full size ready for when this one runs out!

For so long I was standing by the L'Oreal counter deciding which red lipstick I was going to go for and in the end I went for Blake's Red, it's the perfect red colour for me and I am so glad I got this one, I have been using it so much this month and I love it. It lasts forever on my lips, only needing a few touch ups during the day.

This month I finally got around to trying out Ruth Crilly's CoLab Dry Shampoo in the Paris fragrance, and let me tell you this is SO much better than the Batiste dry shampoo, it smells so much nicer, it doesn't leave white residue in you hair and it makes my hair feel a lot cleaner and fresher! I will definitely be buying the other fragrances!

This next favourite is sort of a double, it's the Body Shop Instablur and the Body Shop Instablur eyes, I've decided to put them together as the both do the same thing. These make my face look flawless and it sets my eyelids for eyeshadow. They make my makeup last so long and I love them.

My lips have been so dry and chapped this month so I gave the Baby Lips Dr Rescue in Just Peachy a try, they've got eucalyptus in them so when you put them on your lips it feels quite tingly, which I actually like. They're very soothing and give a nice subtle colour pay off.

I have also been loving Benefit Lolibalm, again this has a very nice subtle colour pay off and it's very moisturising. I really love the packaging of this as well, it's so photogenic and looks beautiful on my makeup desk.

Another Benefit product I have been loving is the Hoola Bronzer, I don't know why I didn't try this earlier but I got a sample for Christmas and I've used it nearly everyday! You can build this up so easily and it blends out really nicely.

It's so annoying that the UK don't have a Bath and Body Works because I have been loving the Pocketbac handgels. My favourite scent is the Warm Vanilla Sugar one, oh my god, I could smell this all day long, I've been trying to use this so sparingly but I've nearly run out. I need to go to America and stock up on hundreds of these!

This is a weird one to put in a favourites but I've been doing quite a lot of lists lately and I've been using a Jack Wills Pen, I always appreciate a good pen to write with and this one is so easy and comfortable to write with!
